Tuvalu Digital Repository for Cultural Heritage

The Repository safeguards the cultural heritage of Tuvalu in the face of the existential threats posed by sea-level rise. Built as a flagship project of the Rising Nations Initiative (RNI) launched by Tuvalu and other Pacific atoll island States in 2022, the Repository gives you access to Tuvalu's cultural heritage across every island.

It also includes digitized artifacts, historical documents, and other objects of cultural significance preserved in museums and private collections across the globe. The Repository speaks to the unique and rich cultural heritage of the Tuvalu nation, with each object selected through the Kaupule of each island. The Repository has been made possible through the close partnership between the Tuvalu Ministry of Home Affairs, Climate Change and Environment, the Global Centre for Climate Mobility advancing the RNI, and the German Archaeological Institute (DAI).

Tuvalu, eight traditions, stretches across 676 km of open Pacific. Total land area: 26 km2. Click on an island above to see what it has in the repository.
